Located moments from the sands of Bagna Maurizio, this traditional apartment is a fuss-free option in Tuscany’s historic resort town, Viareggio. The designs are traditional, and perhaps a little dated for some, but it’s a comfortable base that hints at the 19th-century glamour this area was known for. Despite the lift in the building, there are stairs to climb – the bedroom and bathroom are on the mezzanine. If you do eat at home, there’s a little kitchenette for light bites, though we expect you’ll be dining along the seafront after a day at Villa Borbone.

Home truths
While there's a lift to reach this first-floor apartment, the bedroom is located on the mezzanine, so you'll need to climb the stairs to reach it. At full occupancy, two guests will be sleeping on the sofa bed in the living area. It's not the most private, so if you're seeking ample space and privacy, we'd recommend this home for two guests only.
The décor here is a little dated and the aesthetics are not up to Plum Guide's usual standards – we've made an exception to let this one into the collection on account of its great location.
You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
