What stands out for us here is this lovely home's location down a winding lane, opposite a waterfall and Saugerties Reservoir. Other attractions nearby include Woodstock, a ten-minute drive and Kaaterskill Falls, a twenty-minute ride, while Hudson is thirty minutes by car. The gardens at this farmhouse (built in 1851) are entirely fenced, so they are perfect for dogs. Not forgetting the humans, there's a wisteria-draped pergola over the patio, perfect for dining and a fire pit for stargazing. Though neighbouring houses are visible, they are partially screened by trees, so it doesn't feel too overlooked. Inside, there's a wood burner to cosy up in front of and a little reading nook just off the main upstairs bedroom – so sweet.

About Saugerties
While Upstate New York is used to being overshadowed by the city, a trip up the Hudson brings you to some charming towns and beautiful scenery. The slower pace of life here is an excellent antidote to the frenetic energy of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The lush, ever-changing landscape is an attraction in itself, but the towns of the Hudson Valley offer a healthy dose of culture and history. This area...
