Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
This apartment is part of a former 19th-century palace in Miragaia. While the original facade maintains its Portuguese blue tiles, the interiors are minimal and modern, making it a perfect spot for those seeking a comfortable stay with a dose of history. There’s plenty of space here for a couple or small group to unwind over a glass of local port after a day sightseeing – the balcony is our pick. And if you’re visiting as a group of three, keep in mind that one guest will be sleeping on the sofa bed. Location-wise, you’re within walking distance of the National Museum Soares dos Reis, Igreja e Torre dos Clérigos and the Douro River.

Like Ribeira, it has brightly coloured buildings and sweeping views over the water. But unlike the city’s main riverside hub, Miragaia is tucked away from the usual tourist trails. In the evenings its restaurant and bar scene thrives, but it’s generally calmer area, with a strong local population...
