Nestled in the forests of Kočevje in southeast Slovenia, this cabin is an ode to the natural world, crafted from locally-sourced timber and stone. Windows and skylights frame the peaceful woodland surroundings, so you'll hardly notice the lack of a TV – not when you can admire local wildlife from bed. Savour fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden, and while away the evening with board games in front of the wood burner – or head to the Finnish sauna outside. If you're eager to explore, there are plenty of hiking trails in the area – and for winter travellers, the Gače Ski Centre is just a twenty-five-minute drive away.

At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the upstairs hallway – however, there's limited privacy here.
