Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
Few houses carry the weight of history quite like this one. Built on land granted by William the Conqueror, this Herefordshire estate has its own deer park – a former royal hunting ground where around 250 fallow deer still graze – a chapel with stained glass windows, and tower bedrooms reached by a stone spiral staircase, one hiding a secret passageway. Dine by an open fire in a banquet hall that seats twenty, explore the walled garden and help yourself to whatever's in season, or simply disappear into the book-lined billiard room for the afternoon.

Home truths
This estate is deep in rural Herefordshire – you'll need a car to reach shops, restaurants, and nearby towns.
The tower rooms are reached via a stone spiral staircase, and the main house spans four floors. It's also worth knowing there are uneven floors and additional internal steps in places, so the home isn't well suited to guests with limited mobility.
A river runs alongside the driveway, so keep an eye on younger children. Dogs must also be kept on a lead in the gardens.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a high chair. Safety gates may also be available.
The exterior of the home is monitored by CCTV for security purposes.
This is a lived-in home. You should expect some of the host's personal belongings to be present during your stay.
While not all bathrooms are photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.

About Herefordshire
Sandwiched between the Midlands and Wales, and hugging both the Malvern Hills and the Brecon Beacons, Herefordshire – despite its wild landscapes and dramatic history – still manages to feel like a well-kept secret. This county’s scenery feels veritably Wordsworthian with its Daffodil Way trail, rapeseed yellow fields, pockets of pink blossoms hiding candyfloss-like sheep and the sparkling River Wye weaving through sun-speckled valleys. There’s a reason Herefordshire’s landscape –...
