A cosy lodge made from a shipping container, this is the ideal place for a couple's retreat. It's packed with character (including a log burner), and though the owners live next door, privacy shouldn't be an issue. The enclosed patio is an absolute highlight. With a fire pit, pizza oven, and a variety of seating, a great time in the great outdoors is all but guaranteed. We also can't get enough of the countryside views. Scenic walks are right on the doorstep, making it ideal for pets. You're further away from the beach and other conveniences here – Bournemouth is about an hour away – but Shaftesbury is within easy driving distance.

Home truths

Two well-behaved pets are welcome to join you here. Please note that the owners live on the adjacent property and have seven rescue dogs, so caution is advised.

This is a single-level home on the ground floor, though there are a couple of stairs on the porch.

This home is not suitable for children.

We suggest having a car in this area. Off-road parking is available here, and there's a secure bike shed if you'd prefer to cycle.

There's another holiday cottage on the premises. You'll share a communal laundry room in an adjacent building. The second cottage overlooks the patio garden, but you'll have sole access unless the two homes are booked together.
