Base yourself in Brera, one of Milan's most fashionable neighbourhoods. Major landmarks like Pinacoteca di Brera, Sforzesco Castle, and the Duomo are all less than a thirty-minute walk away – not to mention the many upscale boutiques and trendy restaurants nearby. While the apartment isn't the biggest, its sleek design makes the most of the space. The living room has a sofa bed that accommodates two guests, while the dining table serves as a workspace for business travellers. There's not much room in the kitchen, but it comes with all the essentials. Though if you ask us, we'd rather dine out – you're in Italy, after all.

This is an area that exudes affluence, just north of Brera. The pace of life is much calmer than the centre of Milan, so those looking for a stylish but relaxed break in the city will be delighted with Moscova. Families may find this area a touch too quiet –...
