Stepping through the Renaissance colonnade into the central courtyard of this Málaga studio, you get the immediate sense that something historic surrounds you. The 1860s Andalusian palace has been restored with care – original marble floors, rescued doors, and rehabilitated columns all intact – while tall balcony windows look down over the courtyard below. The Alcazaba, Málaga Cathedral, and the Picasso and Pompidou museums are all within easy reach, making this a rare base where the architecture rivals the neighbourhood itself.

Home truths
Málaga's historic centre is compact and very walkable, so you may not need to hire a car unless you plan on exploring the region further.
At 35 sqm, this is a compact studio designed for two – the sleeping and living areas share the same space, so it's best suited to couples or solo travellers rather than those needing separate zones to unwind.
Your host asks that you get in touch at least one week before arrival to share your flight or ship details and arrange key collection.
You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
This home is located on the second floor, accessible via lift, so it may suit those with reduced mobility.
