Tucked in a quieter pocket of lively Windermere, this Victorian gem has been converted into a massive eight-bedroom home, sleeping up to sixteen in the heart of the Lake District. Think coffee outside in the private garden, afternoons roaming the storied fells and idyllic villages, and evenings in the hot tub or curled up inside by the log burner with a local pint in hand. With ensuites in every bedroom, there’s privacy for everyone, along with a family room and sitting room to stretch out in. We love that although this home fits such a big group, no one is left behind at the dinner table, with space for all sixteen guests.

Local guide

About The Lake District

Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
