Part of a historic palazzo on the Grand Canal, this studio apartment gives you a rare glimpse of authentic Venetian life. Arrive by water taxi through the palazzo’s water gate and step straight inside without climbing a single stair. The living room looks out across the canal towards the Cannaregio palazzos and the Cà Pesaro Museum of Modern Art, while a shared garden offers a quiet escape from the crowds. With its characterful interiors and an atmosphere of faded grandeur, it’s a peaceful retreat just minutes from the Rialto Bridge.

Home truths

Parking in Venice is tricky, so we recommend using public transport. The apartment is well placed for walking and has easy vaporetto (water bus) connections. If you arrive by water taxi, you can access directly from the Grand Canal without climbing stairs.

This is a studio apartment with no separate sofa. The sofa converts into two single beds with comfortable mattresses, which can also be joined to form a king-size bed.

The lounge is missing some curtains, but you won’t be overlooked as it faces the canal.

The kitchen is compact but fully equipped with everything you need for your stay.

Your host lives in the same building, and their cats often wander in the shared garden, so you may see them during your stay.

The traditional decor here might not be to everyone's taste. It feels a little dated in parts.

It’s a favourite with tourists, particularly as its less hectic than San Marco (this is all relative though – everywhere in Venice is packed). It’s intersected by many small intertwining canals, which make for good views and plenty of opportunity for gondola rides, if that's your cup of tea. Perhaps...
