Space might be limited, but this apartment in Milan’s Città Studi district knows exactly how to make it work. Recently renovated with a crisp finish, it keeps things simple without feeling sparse. Clean lines, bright pops of colour and warm wood touches give the place a contemporary touch, while thoughtful details – like the study space and open-plan kitchen ensure it’s practical. There’s a calm energy to the surrounding streets, and with the Polytechnic University just around the corner, this neighbourhood hums with laid-back local life. Plus, Lambrate station is only a few minutes away when you want to explore Milan.

Home truths

The apartment is on the mezzanine level, so while access is relatively easy, there may be some steps involved.

Parking in Milan can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to easily accessible public transport where possible. Here, you are 350m from the metro green line.

With just 50 sqm of space, it’s compact – best suited to solo travellers or couples comfortable with a snug layout. Storage is limited too, so light packing is recommended, especially for extended stays.

The sofa bed adds flexibility for short-term guests, but it may feel tight on space when extended.

The area is lively and student-based, which means you may expect occasional noise – though the street itself is quiet.

About Lambrate

Out past the Città Studi, Lambrate straddles the eponymous river in the northeast of Milan. For a long time, it was an afterthought, known best for its industrial output and specifically its association with Lambretta scooters, an icon of postwar Italy. It underwent something of a renaissance in the 2010s as it began to host Ventura Lambrate, an open-air exhibition for emerging designers that made up part of Salone del...
