If you’re looking for a no-frills, practical base right in the heart of Florence, you can’t go wrong here. Granted, the interiors aren’t overly characterful, but it's all well cared for, and the original wooden shutters and high ceilings make all the difference. A great option for a family sharing, alongside the main bedroom with a small balcony overlooking a quiet courtyard, there’s a twin room – perfect for kids sharing. Location-wise, all the sights are easily reachable on foot. Start at the bustling trattorias and bars of charming Piazza della Signoria – just 200 metres from your door.

Home truths

  • A cot can be provided for little ones.

  • Your host will greet you to check in, but you’ll also need to check in online in advance.

  • The apartment is located on the first floor and has shared lift access. However, it’s worth noting that there are also ten steps to access the apartment entrance, which may not be suitable for guests with restricted mobility.

  • You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.

  • If you're travelling for work, you won't find a dedicated desk here. However, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace.

  • If four guests stay, there won’t be room for you all in the sofa area. However, there’s plenty of space to spill out around the dining table.

  • Although not photographed, there is a small private balcony overlooking an inner courtyard leading off the main bedroom.

Local guide

About Santa Croce

Santa Croce is a trendy, architecturally impressive neighbourhood that’s less busy than the Duomo or San Marco districts, but still in the heart of Florence. Home to the eponymous basilica, and the Casa Buonarroti museum, it’s located in the eastern part of Florence’s historic centre. The largest crowds have thinned out by this point, but if you stay here, you're still close enough to explore the whole city on foot....
