Set away from the hustle and bustle, yet within easy reach of the sights, this apartment in Venice is a splendid place to stay. We love the terrace, tucked between rustic walls and pretty plants – it’s a serene spot for morning coffee or pre-dinner drinks. And inside is just as charming, with timber beams and exposed brickwork adding character to this comfortable home (which also has a sofa bed that sleeps two). There’s a smartly styled kitchen too, but with a whole city of excellent eateries to discover, it will be hard to resist sampling the local cuisine.

About Castello

Castello represents a cluster of islands at the eastern edge of Venice’s centre. It’s a quieter side of Venice, without too many tourists. All this changes, however, during the Biennale. This behemoth of the art world takes place in odd-numbered years, and is housed in the former shipyards that give the quarter its name. When the exhibition isn't on, you’ll find museums and ornate churches to explore, and an abundance...
