Pairing home comforts with hints of period character, this apartment is a great pick for a city break in Florence. A stone’s throw from the River Arno, it’s in a super spot for sightseeing, with landmarks like the Uffizi Galleries and the Duomo within walking distance. It could be a bit cosy with the sofa bed set up, and the mezzanine bedroom is a little snug. But it’s the location we love here. Whether you’re heading out for delicious Italian fare or shopping for souvenirs, you’ll find everything you need on the doorstep.

Home truths
There's no lift here. You'll need to be able to climb stairs to reach the entrance of the home on the third floor.
At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area.
The second bedroom is on the mezzanine level and semi-open to the space below, so privacy is limited. The open staircase up to this bedroom makes it unsuitable for children, and the low ceiling means it might not be ideal for taller guests.
This home is short on wardrobe space, so we'd recommend packing light.

About Santa Maria Novella
Tucked inside the thirteenth century boulevard that marks out the oldest part of Florence, this neighbourhood is on the western edge of Florence’s historic centre. The Piazza Santa Maria Novella, with its Gothic church and museum, is the centrepiece, and while the area immediately surrounding the train station is fairly gritty, it’s a convenient spot for those just passing through. Though Santa Maria Novella is not directly in the middle...
