You'll feel like a time traveller in 15th-century Scotland with a stay at this majestic castle. The main house oozes historic character – think roaring fireplaces, wood-panelled galleries, and cosy turret rooms, including an enchanting library stacked to the ceiling with books. An adjoining wing offers private space for small family groups, with its own cosy sitting room, kitchen, and patio. Spend quiet days at home with walks in the extensive grounds (if you forget your wellies, you'll find some in the boot room) or playing tennis on the private court, or explore further afield – Jedburgh is a five-minute drive away, and the nearby River Tweed is home to some of Scotland's best fishing spots.

Home truths
While not all the bedrooms and bathrooms have been photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.
Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay.
This home is comprised of a main house with six bedrooms and an adjoining wing with three bedrooms. Four of the bedrooms in the main house can be arranged as doubles or twins on request.
The ground-floor bedrooms in the adjoining wing share a Jack-and-Jill-style bathroom.
There are steps and uneven floors throughout this home, so we don't recommend it for guests with reduced mobility. Taller guests should also take care with low doorways.

In the Ettrick Valley you’ll find the scenery that inspired shepherd turned writer James Hogg and rambles across the landscape are punctuated by ancient towers. Market towns like Hawick and Jedburgh were wool industry boom-towns back in the day and you...
