It has the cosy charm of a cabin – think vaulted wooden ceilings, an electric fireplace, and forest views from nearly every window. Our favourite spot is the deck, where you can unwind with a tipple and breathe in the smell of the pines. You'll also have access to the shared swimming pool, tennis courts, and the community's private beach, so there's plenty to keep you busy. Factor in the hiking trails and ski resorts within easy reach, and we think it has everything you need.

About Carnelian Bay
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
