Set between historic Downtown Truckee and the shores of Lake Tahoe, this mountain retreat makes it easy to slip into holiday mode. Summer days are made for hiking in Martis Valley, cycling along the Truckee River, and beach-hopping around Lake Tahoe – just ten miles away. Come winter, Northstar’s slopes are five miles down the road, with Palisades Tahoe within easy reach for bigger mountain days. In between, Downtown Truckee delivers buzzy restaurants, live music, boutiques and local history. Back at home, light-filled, open-plan living spaces and supremely comfortable bedrooms create a relaxed base for big groups to truly switch off, with evenings best spent stargazing from the hot tub, savouring sunset on the balcony and sipping wine on the patio.

Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There is on-site parking for up to three cars at this home, with two spaces on the driveway and one in the garage. Street parking is prohibited year-round.
Access to Schaffer's Mill amenities is restricted to members and their guests only.
The maximum occupancy of this home is eight guests. This does not include children under the age of 12.
The third bathroom is shared between the third bedroom and the bunk room. It can be accessed directly from the third bedroom.
The use of any outdoor firepit or outdoor fireplace is strictly prohibited due to wildfire risk.
The wi-fi can be slow in the mountains compared to more urban areas. It's best to plan ahead if you'll need to access the internet during your stay.
Children under the age of 12 are not allowed to use the hot tub.

About Truckee
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
