Wake up to Martis Valley views, step straight onto the trail from your patio, and be on the slopes or in the village within minutes. Set on a forested hillside in a resort, this Energy Star–certified cabin blends sustainability with serious style. Reclaimed wood, exposed beams and natural stone give it that elevated lodge feel, while vaulted ceilings and wide-plank floors keep things airy and warm. The open living space centres around a dramatic stone fireplace, flowing easily into a well-equipped kitchen with a generous island made for slow breakfasts and sociable dinners. Three thoughtfully designed bedrooms, including a serene primary suite with spa-like bath, offer comfort after full days outdoors. With a wraparound patio and seasonal shuttle at your door, adventure here feels effortless.

About Truckee
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
