Located in Testaccio – a lived-in corner of Rome with a serious food reputation – this art-filled apartment is for those wanting more than a typical city base. It won't suit everyone, but for the right trip it offers a comfortable setup for families, with plenty of space to unwind, a full kitchen, and a playground just across the street. You're a short bus ride from the historic centre, but Testaccio more than compensates with top-tier Roman restaurants, bakeries, green spaces, and the much-loved Testaccio Market. If you don't mind trading postcard streets for a more authentic slice of Roman life, this is a strong choice.

About Testaccio
Testaccio is built on food, or rather, food containers. Founded in first century BC as a river port, it was where Rome's supplies of olive oil, grain and wine arrived into the city. Everything was transported in terracotta amphorae, which were smashed on arrival and discarded. Centuries of this practice created a vast mound of terracotta fragments – the Monte dei Cocci – which has become the district's defining feature....
