Planted in Old Town Port Aransas, this house puts the best of the island within easy reach – restaurants, live music, shopping, and the beach are all close by. Back home, the pool and covered lounge area make it easy to lose an afternoon without any particular plan. When the sun dips, head up to the balcony, where the coastal breeze and sunset views make a convincing case for staying put. With a fire pit and ping-pong table also on hand, it works well for a larger group.

Home truths
You have parking for up to four vehicles or golf carts on the premises, plus boat parking on the rocks in front of the fence.
The beach is only a few blocks away, but it's a bit of a trek when you're carrying chairs and bags. You can arrange a golf cart rental through your host – get in touch as early as possible, as availability isn't guaranteed.
The pool isn't heated, so whether you'll want to take a dip will depend on the weather during your stay.
You're on an island, so wi-fi and cable outages can happen from time to time – worth factoring in if you rely on a solid connection.
Mosquitoes and other pests can be present at certain times of year, so pack repellent.
The fire pit needs wood and the ping-pong table needs paddles and balls – neither is supplied, so add them to your packing list or pick them up locally.
The lead guest must be at least 21 years old.
