Perched on stilts at the edge of the Port Aransas Nature Reserve, this classic coastal house puts you within minutes of wide, sun-drenched Gulf beaches and some of Texas's richest wetland birdwatching. Out back, a private pool overlooks a generous patio and yard – the natural anchor for slow, sun-soaked afternoons. As the day winds down, sunset views over the ship canal make for a natural evening ritual. With birding and nature trails right on the doorstep, it works equally well as a launchpad for outdoor exploration or a place to do very little at all.

Home truths
The home is on the first floor with no lift access, so you'll need to be comfortable with stairs when moving luggage or getting in and out.
Bedroom two has a single-over-double bunk bed plus an additional pull-out single trundle bed, sleeping up to four people in total. We think this room works best for children.
Wi-fi and cable are provided, but Port Aransas does experience outages from time to time – worth bearing in mind if you're relying on a steady connection.
The pool is not heated, so it's best suited to warmer months – plan your swim days around the Texas sun rather than expecting a temperature-controlled dip.
You'll have parking for up to four cars on-site – handy given that getting around Port Aransas and reaching the beach will almost certainly mean driving.
The lead guest must be at least 21 years old.
