Settled between Clairemont Mesa and Kearny Mesa, this apartment earns its keep from the moment you step onto the balcony above the landscaped gardens. Days here revolve around the communal pool terrace and cabana – San Diego sun, a cold drink, nowhere to be – and when you're ready to move, the hot tub, sauna, and fitness centre are all on-site. The Gaslamp Quarter's rooftop bars and Victorian streetscapes, as well as Balboa Park, are around a fifteen-minute drive for something a little more cultural.
