Sitting between Riverside Park and Central Park on the Upper West Side, this apartment puts two of New York’s green escapes within easy reach – Central Park is a ten-minute walk, with Strawberry Fields and Columbus Circle not far beyond. The building handles itself well, too. A 24-hour doorman, an on-site gym, and an express subway station just one block away mean the rest of the city is never far. Back inside, hardwood floors and stylish touches make the apartment a calm place to return to after a long day out. There’s even a desk if you’re in town on business – perfect for a solo traveller or couple.

About Upper West Side
Stately townhouses and grand apartment buildings characterise this affluent, family-friendly neighbourhood nestled between two parks (Central and Riverside). The mature, refined feel of the residential side streets balances with a buzzy bar and bistro scene along the tree-lined avenues – you’ll never be short of a brunch cafe or Jewish bakery here (and by the way, the cookies at Levain are legendary for good reason). Two of New York’s best...

Take the kids to the American Museum of Natural History
NYC's most entertaining museum, is also the site of films from 1949's On the Town to 2006's Night at the Museum, and it's a diversion way too fun to leave to the children. Have brunch nearby and go learn something!

Stop by Gray's Papaya - hot dog heaven
Undeniably the best hot dogs in NYC, possibly the world! Two dogs and a large papaya drink will cure the worst hangover, or at least make the day negotiable.

Visit the New-York Historical Society
This lesser-known and fascinating collected works of historical New-York (with its original hyphen, please), houses the nation's first Center for Women's History. This is a must-visit!

Visit a magical fountain in Central Park
