As Scottish as it gets. This historic 19th-century home sits on the edge of the coast – meaning seaside walks, drinks outside with a view, and if you dare, wild swimming in the North Sea. And with period features still intact and each room with its own personality, there's plenty of original character to soak up too. There's a live-in housekeeper, so no one needs to worry about tidying up. Location-wise, the whole group should be pleased – Nairn and Castle Stuart golf courses are just a stone's throw away, Inverness a short drive, and Cairngorms National Park is less than an hour away for Highland hiking. If you'd rather stay local, Nairn has plenty of cafés, restaurants, and pubs.

Home truths

  • While the not all of the bedrooms and bathrooms are photographed, you can expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.

  • If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair for free. You'll need to request them in advance.

  • Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay.

  • An on-site caretaker lives in a private top-floor apartment and carries out daily housekeeping in the mornings – they’re available if needed but remain unobtrusive.

  • For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.

  • One bedroom can be set up as either twins or a double – please let your host know your preference in advance.

Host

This home is managed by Oliver

This home is managed by a business on behalf of its owner. A member of their staff will be your point of contact before and during your stay. Nearly twenty years ago, Oliver and his friend began curating the world's most unique and rustic getaways. Driven by their own unforgettable experience at a chateau, they have grown remarkably since then. Much like Plum, they believe in hand-picked luxury that doesn't break the bank.

This home is nominated for the Plum Guide Award.

  • Great hosts, not just great homes – We reject homes managed by hosts who don’t meet our standards of excellence.
