Red brick archways and terracotta floors give this apartment a character that feels rooted in its surroundings – a medieval building in the pedestrianised heart of Florence. Piazza della Signoria is a three-minute walk, the Uffizi a little further, and Ponte Vecchio around five-minutes away, meaning you can slip out for an hour between meals and still feel like you've barely scratched the surface. Back inside, the rustic kitchen diner is set up for proper Tuscan cooking, and there's a library of books when you'd rather slow down entirely.

Home truths

  • There is no lift in this building, and you'll be arriving on the second floor – so expect to carry luggage up three flights of stairs. If you have heavy bags, it's worth packing light or bringing a compact case.

  • The apartment is within Florence's ZTL restricted traffic zone, which means you cannot drive to or from the front door without a permit. We recommend arriving by taxi, public transport, or on foot – and the paid parking on the premises is worth booking in advance if you're travelling by car.

  • The second bedroom is on the compact side, which is worth factoring in if two adults are sharing it. It works well as a children's room or for a solo traveller.

  • This host collects tourist tax separately from your booking payment. 7 days before check-in, your host will send you a link to pay the tax.

  • There’s a nightclub nearby and the walls are thin, so you may hear noise at night – several previous guests have mentioned this, so the home may not suit light sleepers.

About Santa Croce

Santa Croce is a trendy, architecturally impressive neighbourhood that’s less busy than the Duomo or San Marco districts, but still in the heart of Florence. Home to the eponymous basilica, and the Casa Buonarroti museum, it’s located in the eastern part of Florence’s historic centre. The largest crowds have thinned out by this point, but if you stay here, you're still close enough to explore the whole city on foot....
