Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
If walls could talk, this Fitzrovia stay would have a fair bit to say. Once a blacksmith’s shop, pub and reportedly an inspiration for Orwell’s novel '1984', this place leans heavily into its history – though thankfully the interiors are much more comfortable these days. The private entrance tucked down a London alleyway adds to the charm, while the rooftop terrace is a rare bonus for such a central spot. The open-plan living area feels bright and sociable thanks to the skylights, and the split-level layout gives a bit more privacy. Location-wise, you’ve got Soho, Covent Garden and Oxford Street within walking distance. Tottenham Court Road and Goodge Street stations are nearby for getting around the rest of the city.

Home truths
There are steps leading up to the front door here. It might not be the best option for those with reduced mobility.
Given the home's central spot, and that it sits above a pub, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot. You'll need to request it in advance.
If you're travelling for work, you won't find a dedicated desk here. However, the dining table doubles up as a laptop-friendly workspace.
Parking in London can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to easily accessible public transport where possible. There are Tube stations a short walk away.

The weekends are a bit quieter when the local workers disperse, which is a good time to stroll up to Regent's Park, marvel the glories of the British Museum or head to the shops on Oxford Street.
