Designed by Studio He with a nod to both Nordic and Chinese minimalism, this pine cabin in the Stockholm archipelago is unlike most retreats you'll find in Sweden. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the surrounding birch forest, while a wood-fired hot tub on the deck turns an ordinary evening into something quieter and slower. Moose, foxes, and boar pass through regularly – the wildlife here is part of the draw. Nynäshamn's harbour is just minutes away, with ferries running to Gotland for a Swedish island day trip.

Home truths
The main house and guest house are separate buildings, so moving between them means stepping outside. It gives each group real privacy, but it's worth bearing in mind on colder or wetter nights.
The hot tub has no gate or lock, so if you're travelling with young children, you'll want to keep a close eye on little ones near it.
If you're travelling with little ones, a changing table is already on site. Your host can clarify what else is available in advance – it's worth asking about cots or any other baby equipment you might need.
This is a lived-in home. You should expect some of the host's personal belongings to be present during your stay.
