Perched above Lee Bay with clifftop terraces on both sides, this North Devon house frames open sea views from almost every angle – through floor-to-ceiling bedroom doors at dawn, over the barbecue at dusk, and from the log-burning lounge on darker evenings (the perfect spot for stargazing). A wood-panelled original wing is another surprise, while the modern gym means fitness routines don't have to pause even on holiday. Lee Bay beach is moments away via the garden gate, and the South West Coast Path starts right in the village.

Home truths

  • Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay – there's parking space for two cars here. Please note that the lanes leading to this home are narrow with limited visibility, so take extra care when driving in – and allow a little more time than your sat-nav suggests.

  • The lower garden is accessed from the front terrace via a gate and sits on the cliffside – it's unfenced and there are steep drops at times, so children must be closely supervised, and pets kept on leads.

  • If you're working remotely during your stay, note that the Wi-Fi can be weaker on the upper floor.

  • Please note that the library room, basement, and garage are locked and not accessible to guests.

  • Hen and stag parties are strictly not allowed at this home.

  • Up to two well-behaved dogs are welcome to join you upon request.

About Mortehoe

Have a wander around its winding streets, and you'll discover quaint cottages, an unusual barrel-roofed thirteenth-century church, and the Mortehoe Museum, which offers a glimpse into the area's smuggling past. Many a ship has met its fate on the deadly 'devil's teeth' rocks here over...
