In the heart of Lisbon, this stylish apartment makes an easy base for a city stay. The neighbourhood is lively and central, with monuments and trendy eateries all within strolling distance. Inside there’s a living room for relaxing after a day of sightseeing, plus a well-equipped kitchen if you fancy eating in. It’s worth noting that two will sleep on the sofa bed in the lounge, though we think the layout is probably best suited to couples wanting a comfortable, well-located stay in the city.

Chiado is full of old-world charm, and is one of the best-loved parts of Lisbon. Think pastel-hued homes, cobbled streets and plenty of squares to soak up the atmosphere. There’s a slower pace of life in Chiado, which is why it’s so popular with locals. Hop on a tram to take in the open-air ruin of the Camo church, a Gothic masterpiece that was mostly destroyed in an earthquake, or hit the shops – this is one of Lisbon’s best shopping districts, after all.
