Perched high in the Smoky Mountains, this house is built around the view – floor-to-ceiling windows and vaulted ceilings in the living room frame rolling forested ridgelines on every side. Two decks spread across two levels give you plenty of room to move between alfresco dining, the plunge pool, the hot tub, and a fire pit for late evenings under clear mountain skies. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a thirty-seven-minute drive, Gatlinburg's craft shops and eateries about thirty-six minutes away, and Pigeon Forge somewhere in between – so there's no shortage of reasons to venture out, even if the views make it tempting to stay put.

Home truths

  • One of the bedrooms sleeps up to eight people in four double-over-double bunk beds – we think this room might be best suited to children.

  • The plunge pool is only available from mid-May to October – worth factoring in if you're visiting outside that window.

  • You'll have driveway parking for up to four cars, though the garage is not available for guest use.

  • You'll need a 4WD or AWD vehicle to reach the lodge – the driveway and surrounding roads are steep, and chains are recommended during heavy snowfall in winter months.

  • Noise ordinance violations here can carry fines of up to $10,000 per violation, so keep in mind that quiet hours run from 9pm to 8am and are strictly enforced. No speakers or sound systems are provided at the lodge.

  • The lead guest must be at least 21 years old.
