Tucked into the pines of Northstar's Gold Bend community, this house delivers the kind of mountain retreat you won't want to leave. A balcony sits right among the trees, so the forest feels close, while the fireplace in the living room sets the tone for cosy evenings. The bunk room makes it a natural fit for families or groups, while a concierge service handles everything from ski gear rental to fridge stocking before you arrive. Northstar California Resort is just minutes away, with skiing, snowboarding, and the village all within easy reach – and Truckee's shops and restaurants a short drive further.

About Carnelian Bay
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
