A glass-roofed living room floods the ground floor with light, opening onto a plant-filled courtyard that feels worlds away from the Parisian street outside. Head upstairs and a twenty square metre terrace delivers rooftop views worth lingering over, hammock included. The three suites each have their own en-suite bathroom, while a grand piano and curated library add a cultured, unhurried atmosphere. Sitting in the 11th arrondissement, you're a thirteen-minute walk from the iron footbridges of Canal Saint-Martin, with Oberkampf's restaurants and bars practically on the doorstep.

Home truths

  • While the third bedroom and bathroom aren't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.

  • This is a multi-floor townhouse, so you'll be moving up and down stairs regularly – between the ground-floor living space and the bedroom floors above. Worth bearing in mind if anyone in your group has limited mobility.

  • If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot. Ask in advance to make sure it's ready for your arrival.

  • With only one hot water source serving three bathrooms, you may find pressure or temperature dips if multiple showers run back to back. Spacing out shower times by ten to fifteen minutes or so keeps things comfortable.

  • Parking here can be tricky, so we recommend sticking to easily accessible public transport where possible.

Local guide

About Canal Saint Martin - Oberkampf

Canal Saint Martin is to Paris what Williamsburg once was to New York or Shoreditch was to London. This part of town still retains a certain grittiness that has been largely lost from the abovementioned counterparts - gentrification is undoubtedly on its way but the area still feels authentic and edgy so get there before this changes! You'll be rubbing shoulders with Paris's hippest young things, smoking and drinking outside...
