Hidden away behind trees and surrounded by countryside, this timber-clad lodge feels wonderfully tucked off the map – despite Chichester being only ten minutes away. The outside space is a big win too, with South Downs views, a double pond, an enclosed lawn for children and dogs to roam, and a private hot tub for evenings under the stars. Inside, it's cosy but characterful, with book-lined walls, eclectic artwork, antique furniture, and a wood burner that makes bad weather feel considerably more appealing. And with Goodwood, West Dean, country pubs, and walking trails all nearby, it’s well placed for weekends built around fresh air and pub lunches.

Home truths

  • At full occupancy, one guest will sleep on the raised bed tucked into a nook off the main living area, so privacy is limited. We think it's best suited to older children.

  • The super king-size bed can be configured as two twins upon request.

  • The home is approached via a private drive that is shared with a historic manor house.

  • There's a double pond in the garden here. If you're bringing little ones, they'll need to be supervised at all times.

  • A weekly change of linen and towels is provided for stays longer than a week.

  • While babies and older children are welcome, this home isn't suitable for toddlers.

  • The wi-fi is provided through a temporary dongle, which may affect speed and connectivity. It's best suited for light browsing and emails.

  • Kindling and logs for the wood burner are included.

  • Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There is parking for up to three cars on the driveway.
