The views are the real draw at this Mammoth Lakes townhouse, where the private deck looks out over open Sierra meadows to the Sherwin Mountains beyond – the kind of outlook that makes it hard to leave your morning coffee behind. Inside, a soaring living room with a stone fireplace and leather seating frames those same green hillsides, so the landscape stays with you indoors too. When the day calls for it, community hot tubs are on site, and the attached garage means arriving with skis or hiking gear is entirely fuss-free.

Home truths

  • The lead guest must be at least 25 years old to rent this home.

  • There are six steps up to the front door and a further twelve stairs to the main living level.

  • Wi-fi here is not guaranteed – your host cannot promise a reliable connection, so plan accordingly if you need to stay online or work remotely.

  • The community hot tub is a great way to unwind after a day on the mountain, but availability and conditions can change at short notice – worth checking when you arrive.

  • You'll need a car to get around Mammoth Lakes – the home is in the Snowcreek neighbourhood and there are two parking spaces available, including an attached garage with a 7-foot clearance. 4x4 vehicles or snow chains may be required to access the area during snow and winter weather conditions.

  • Exterior construction is planned across the complex in 2026, so if you're visiting between spring and autumn that year you should expect some noise during the day.

About Olympic Valley

On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
