Once the private home of Vogue Italia editor Franca Sozzani, this hillside villa within the Portofino Park carries a rare kind of history. Her personally selected furnishings still fill every room, giving the house a distinctive, lived-in character and a direct connection to one of fashion's most influential figures and the notable guests she welcomed there. The infinity pool boasts direct views over Castello Brown, and the collection of bedrooms wake you to the gulf each morning. A dedicated housekeeper is on hand for the duration of your stay, while the iconic Piazzetta is just a short, steep walk along a private road – a rare balance of seclusion and easy access to the village.

Home truths

  • Daily cleaning by an in-house maid is included with your stay. Also included are a private concierge, personal ironing and laundry services, luggage assistance upon arrival, and a welcome drink.

  • One of the seven bedrooms is housed in the separate garden suite, with its own private access from the garden.

  • If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair during your stay — worth requesting in advance to make sure everything is ready on arrival.

  • You'll have access to the whole home and garden, apart from a few staff-only areas.

  • Both entrances to the villa involve steps. The upper entrance is the more manageable of the two, coming down from the road, while the second entrance requires climbing more steps – worth bearing in mind if you have heavy luggage or anyone in your group with limited mobility. It's also a steep path on foot from Portofino village.
