From a rooftop terrace above Gallipoli's old town, the Ionian Sea stretches out in an intense arc of blue – it's the kind of view you'll want to linger over with an espresso each morning. Inside, the vaulted bedroom with its hand-painted floor tiles gives the apartment a quiet sense of place that feels earned rather than decorated. The historic island it sits on is walkable in every direction – the Angevine-Aragonese castle, the fishing port, and the baroque churches are all within easy reach, making this a natural base for immersing yourself in Salento life.

Home truths
While this home doesn’t have a lounge, there are seats in the kitchen and bedroom, and on the roof terrace.
If you're travelling with a little one, your host can provide a cot and high chair. Request them in advance to make sure they're ready on arrival.
The apartment sits on the first floor of a building in the old town. There's no lift, so you must climb stairs to reach the entrance of the home.
To access the roof terrace, you'll need to climb a narrow external staircase.
You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.
