This handsome Lakeland stone cottage on the edge of the Lake District National Park. A wood-burning stove anchors the snug, while a second lounge opens onto a covered balcony with far-reaching views over rolling countryside – the kind of spot that makes lingering feel obligatory. Downstairs, the kitchen diner is generous enough for everyone to cook and eat together, and a landscaped terrace extends things outside. Walking and cycling routes start from the doorstep, with Ulverston's cafes and pubs around a ten-minute drive away.

About The Lake District
Poets and novelists have often escaped to the Lake District for a spot of inspiration. Famously, Wordsworth pondered about daffodils and clouds during his time here. The undulating hills are tracked with drystone walls while sheep graze, and farmsteads enjoy untouched beauty for miles around. England’s biggest lake, Windermere, cuts through a valley, sleek as glass and hosts a litany of cosy-pub-filled towns and water sports venues along its shores....
