The living room's walls of windows frame those pine-ridged views, while the game room below offers shuffleboard and a wet bar for evenings that run late. When the day winds down, the hot tub and fire pit terrace give you open skies above and meadows stretching to the horizon. The main suite occupies an entire floor, with a private balcony, valley outlook, and a jetted bath to close out the day. Northstar Ski Resort is 2.3 miles away.

You'll need a car to make the most of the area. There are five parking spaces on site – four on the driveway and one in the garage, which has a clearance of 8 feet, so check your vehicle's height before arriving.
There is no air conditioning here – ceiling fans and the home's wooded setting help.
The home is spread across three floors with a lot of stairs between them – worth keeping in mind if anyone in your group has mobility considerations.
One of the bedrooms has a single-over-double bunk bed that can sleep up to three people – we think it might be best suited to children.

About Truckee
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling.
