A former village school in Penrhos, Monmouthshire, this home has been carefully restored to keep the character of its origins while making room for proper group comfort. The deep-blue cinema snug – converted from the original school library – is a highlight for evenings in, while the wood-burning stove draws everyone to the living room on cooler days. Come summer, the private outdoor pool takes over, though there's always the lawn for sunbathing. Raglan Castle is an easy drive away, and Usk Castle's medieval ruins are just a little further, making this a great anchor for a few days of exploring the Welsh borders.
