This bright townhome is well placed for exploring North Lake Tahoe. Kings Beach is less than half a mile away on foot, with a sandy shoreline, water sports rentals, restaurants, and seasonal summer events. Brockway Golf Course is a short drive away, while Northstar California Resort can be reached in around ten minutes by car. North Tahoe Regional Park is less than seven minutes away for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing depending on the season. Back at the house, a fireplace adds a cosy touch to the living area, while sliding glass doors open onto a private patio with a picnic table. A bunk room with a play teepee makes this a practical option for families, and a desk in the main bedroom is useful for those planning to work during their stay.

Home truths

  • One of the bedrooms has a single-over-double bunk bed that can sleep up to three people – we think it might be best suited to children.

  • There's no air conditioning here, so summer stays will rely on natural ventilation and the cool mountain air. Packing a fan may be worth considering during warmer months.

  • There's parking for up to two cars in a large paved area on the downhill side of the home. You'll want a car to get around – Kings Beach is a short drive away for groceries and restaurants.

  • If you're visiting in winter, you may need four-wheel drive or snow chains to reach the home safely – it's worth checking road conditions before you set off.

  • The barbecue is gas-powered and only available during the summer season – it won't be out for winter visits. Note that charcoal grills are not permitted in the county.

About Tahoe Vista

On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
