Tucked into tall Sierra pines just half a mile from Northstar Resort, this Truckee cabin earns its place as an all-season base. A private hot tub sits out on the deck under a timber canopy – pine forest on every side, mountain air all around. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the dining room frame the same landscape from the inside, while a fireplace and a game and media room downstairs give you somewhere to land after a day on the slopes or the trails. The main bedroom adds a jet bathtub and a sauna, making it easy to reset properly before going again.

About Carnelian Bay

On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
