Tucked into the forest of Carnelian Bay, this cabin-style cottage has the kind of living space you'll want to settle into on arrival – high ceilings, exposed beams, and a fireplace framed by windows on all sides. Two decks give you somewhere to eat alfresco and there's a hot tub for total relaxation among the pines. Location wise, it's half a mile from the trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, while Tahoe City's shops, restaurants, and grocery stores less than ten minutes away.

About Carnelian Bay
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
