Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
Tucked into the pines of Carnelian Bay, this house is built for groups who want to be outside as much as in. The deck delivers – hot tub, fire pit, outdoor fireplace, and partial Lake Tahoe views, with an alfresco dining table under the trees. Inside, a wood-burning fireplace anchors the living area, while the main suite offers a soaking bathtub and walk-in shower for end-of-day recovery. A separate studio suite keeps extended family comfortable without anyone losing privacy. Three major ski resorts, including Palisades Tahoe and Northstar, are within a twenty-minute drive, and hiking trails begin just three minutes from the front door.

Home truths
This home comprises a main house with three bedrooms and a self-contained studio with a king-size bed and a double sofa bed. At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the studio.
One of the bedrooms has a single-over-double bunk bed that can sleep up to three people – we think it might be best suited to children.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a travel cot. You'll need to request it in advance.
The barbecue is only available during summer – charcoal grills are strictly forbidden in this county year-round, so if you're visiting outside of summer you won't have a grill on site.
You'll need a car to make the most of this location. There's parking for up to four cars in the driveway.
If you're visiting in winter, four-wheel drive or snow chains may be necessary to reach the home safely.

About Carnelian Bay
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
