A cedar-clad mountain house tucked into tall pines above Truckee, this is the kind of place that earns its keep from the moment you arrive. Soaring timber ceilings anchor the living space, where a wood-burning fireplace keeps things warm after a day on the slopes – and the free shuttle line to Northstar Resort runs right outside. Come evening, the stone fire pit terrace draws everyone together beneath the trees, or you can ease into the private hot tub and let the mountain air do the rest.

At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the pull-down bunk bed in the bonus room. The top bunk doesn't have safety rails so isn't suitable for younger children.
You'll have access to the on-site pool and fitness center here. They're shared with the community's other guests.
There's no air conditioning here, which is typical for mountain homes in this area.
Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There’s free parking for up to two cars in the garage.
You'll need four-wheel drive or snow chains to reach the home safely in winter conditions.
The free dial-a-ride shuttle picks you up at the kerb and covers the Northstar area – you'll need the Northstar app to request it. For Kings Beach and downtown Truckee, the TART bus runs daily from the village gate, with journey times of around fifteen minutes and twenty minutes respectively.

About Truckee
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
