Tucked into the Sierra Nevada forest above Tahoe City, this log cabin feels immersed in the mountains – cathedral ceilings and rich hardwood floors greet you at the door, and the gas fireplace and pine-framed views make it easy to settle in. The loft games room with a pool table and wet bar is a natural gathering spot, while two decks and a balcony offer alfresco dining with sweeping mountain views. A private hot tub rounds things out after a day on the trails. Palisades Tahoe is roughly a fifteen-minute drive, and two lake beaches are less than a mile on foot.

About Carnelian Bay
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
