Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
Perched in Carnelian Bay with a filtered view of Lake Tahoe beyond the pines, this house is built around an inverted layout that puts the best of the home up top – vaulted ceilings, a gas fireplace, and a deck where the lake glimmers at dusk. A professional-grade range makes the kitchen worth using seriously, and alfresco dining on the deck with the barbecue going feels like the natural end to a day here. Ski resorts, hiking trails, and beaches are all within a fifteen-minute drive, while Patton Beach is just over a mile away on foot.

Home truths
There's no air conditioning here – the home relies on central heating and fans provided in each bedroom. If you're visiting in summer, plan accordingly.
You'll need a car to make the most of the area. There are three driveway parking spaces, and a drive of under fifteen minutes reaches beaches, ski resorts, and shops.
If you're visiting in winter, be prepared for snow driving conditions – four-wheel drive or snow chains may be necessary to reach the home safely.
The deck seating and gas grill are seasonal – available in summer only, so if you're visiting outside that window, alfresco dining won't be an option.
You'll need to be able to manage stairs here – it may not suit guests with reduced mobility.
While the third bathroom isn't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.
If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair at no additional cost. You'll need to request them in advance.

Local guide
About Carnelian Bay
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
