Do you have a question about this home or the local area?
A six-bedroom Sierra Nevada retreat where the mountains feel close and the pace slows down. Three living rooms, each with a fireplace, mean there's always somewhere to settle in after a day outdoors, and the vaulted main living space earns its keep on cooler evenings. Step out to the covered lower deck and the hot tub looks straight into the pines – hard to leave once you're in. A free shuttle from the driveway connects directly to Northstar Village for skiing and dining, with Truckee Historic Downtown's Victorian shops and restaurants about seventeen minutes away by car.

Home truths
There's no air conditioning here – the whole-house fan helps in warmer weather, but this is how most homes in the area are set up, so it's worth bearing in mind if you're visiting in summer.
Bedroom four has a bunk bed, a single bed, and an additional pull-out single bed. This room sleeps up to four people and might be best suited to children.
Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There's parking for up to six cars here – two in the garage and four on the driveway.
If you're planning a winter visit, you may need four-wheel drive or snow chains to reach the house – factor that into your car hire plans.

About Truckee
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
