Perched at 7,300 feet in the pine woods above Incline Village, this dark-clad cabin is the kind of place where slowing down happens without effort. Tall pines press in on every side, framing the upper deck and the hot tub – which connects directly to the main bedroom – in something close to solitude. Inside, the kitchen and family room sit on the upper floor with filtered lake views, while every bedroom mattress adjusts to your preference, a detail you'll notice after a day on the slopes at Diamond Peak. Incline Village's private beach on Lake Tahoe is about eleven minutes by car.

Home truths
You'll need a car to make the most of your stay. The driveway fits two vehicles; in winter, street parking is not available, so plan accordingly if you're travelling as a larger group.
If you're visiting in winter, four-wheel drive or snow chains may be necessary to navigate the roads safely.
The outdoor barbecue, gas grill, and fire pit are seasonal – availability depends on snow levels and the time of year, so they may not be accessible during a winter visit.
At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the Murphy bed in the living area.

About Incline Village
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. The north shore is a bit quieter and more relaxed than the south. While there's still plenty to do (including the annual food and wine festival), you're unlikely to see crowds like you do in other parts of the region.
