Home truths
This is a lived-in home. You should expect some of the host's personal belongings to be present during your stay.
The barbecue is only available during summer months, so if you're visiting in winter you won't be able to use it.
For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.
There's no air conditioning here, so summer stays can get warm. In winter, 4-wheel drive or snow chains may be needed to reach the home safely – worth planning for if you're renting a car.
You'll have on-site parking for up to six cars – four on the driveway and two in the garage, though garage access is limited to one vehicle due to owner storage.
The fireplace is a gas-assist wood-burning model, but wood is not provided – you'll need to source it locally or bring your own if you're planning on using it.
While the dock is perfect for launching kayaks and paddleboards, you won't be able to moor a boat there.

Local guide
About South Lake Tahoe
On the border of California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe is one of the largest bodies of water in the US. As you'd expect, it's an area of astounding beauty, but the lake has also made a name for itself as a centre for both winter sports and water sports, as well as hiking and cycling. Southern Lake Tahoe is where the majority of these activities (and the majority of the nightlife) is based. In contrast to the slower north, there's a bustling arts scene, late-night restaurants and plenty of casinos in Nevada.
