Vaulted ceilings and panoramic windows frame the Wasatch Range in a way that makes the mountains feel like part of the room, while a deck off the main level is purpose-built for alfresco evenings. Drop down to the lower level and you have a second living area that walks straight out to a private patio and hot tub – snow-dusted peaks ahead, open space all around. Half a mile from Jordanelle State Park, with boating and waterfront trails close at hand, this detached mountain house earns its place as a base for the outdoors.

Home truths
One of the bedrooms sleeps five people in two bunk beds and a pull-out single bed – we think this room is best suited to children.
Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. There is parking for one car in the garage and two more on the driveway.
Your host provides a starter pack of essentials – paper towels, dishwasher tablets, trash bags, washing-up liquid, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, toilet paper, detergent, and basic condiments. You'll need to stock up on anything beyond those basics for the duration of your stay.
While the Jordanelle Express chair is just 1 mile away, the main Deer Valley resort area is 10 miles. If you're planning to ski the full mountain, factor in a drive on ski days.

It’s not just about the powder here, though – every winter, the Robert Redford-owned Sundance Resort hosts the eponymous film...
